[March 15th, 2009] Another outstanding tournament. The Minneapolis Rink
Rats captured their 3rd title in 4 years with an exciting overtime victory over
the Thunder Bay Nighthawks. This years Sportsmanship Award was presented to the
International Falls Flying Blades. There were no significant injuries reported,
although the Dryden Spartans reported a couple players not being able to play
their last game due to injury. The Spartans did win a thrilling shootout vs the
Nighthawks in the round robin. The new team to this years tournament, the
Thunder Bay Warriors, made it to the semi-finals and played well. The Dryden
Crusaders made it to the semi-finals for the 2nd year in a row, but lost to the
eventual champions both times. The Victory Kings displayed some blazing speed
and tenacity and were fun to watch. I-Falls had a handful of players unable to
join the team in Dryden which hurt their depth. The Lakehead Pylons once again
had a strong showing and played solid in all of their games. All-in-all, a
great tournament with lots of exciting action. Dan Robinson once again did a
great job running the tournament.
[March 5th, 2009] Defending champions Northland will not be able to

is released by Dan. We will be having 1 new team join the tournament this year.
[March 18th, 2008] Photos and team pictures are coming in, and being
added as they are received from fans and team reps. Videos shoud be ready later
in the week.
[March 16th, 2008] The tournament was once again a success, with no
significant injuries reported. The Northland Pioneers defeated the Thunder Bay
Nighthawks 2-0 in the finals. The first time either team had made it to the big
game. The new tournament format of penalty minutes and sportsmanship being the
primary focus was a rousing success. A new sportsmanship trophy was introduced
this year, called the Pastor Archie Dyck sportsmanship award, which was awarded
to Grace (Selkirk) for the team with the fewest penalty minutes in the tourny.
The Dryden Crusaders were one goal away from going to the championship game,
losing 2-1 in the semi's to the eventual champions. The Crusaders struggled
mightily in previous years, so the dramatic turn around was exciting for the
home town crowd. On the flip side, the Lakehead Pylons who were in the finals
in 2007, went winless in the 2008 round robin. Just goes to show how tight the
competition is from year to year, with 2 new finalists as well. The Dryden
Spartans sported new uniforms this year, and looked really slick.
[March 22nd, 2007] The tournament was a success, with no significant
injuries reported. Minneapolis Rink Rats defended their title with another
impressive showing in the finals over Lakehead. It was Lakehead's first
appearance in the finals. The first phase of video and pictures have been
posted to the site, along with the scoring summaries. Please, if any of you
have video or pictures, please send them along to the webmaster. It's difficult
to capture all the teams when you only have a couple people submitting stuff.
Especially need team photos !
[March 15th, 2007] The Victory-Dryden Crusader Kings team will not be
able to play, so that brings the teams to 11. The Providence Freemen were going
to be participating as the Morden Mohawks, but were able to work it out so they
can continue to play as the Providence Freemen.
[February 9th, 2007] The 2007 tournament schedule has been posted. We
will be having a record 12 teams in this years tournament. The Northland
Pioneers will be returning after an extended absence and a new team from Thunder
Bay called the Nighthawks will be joining us as well. Dryden and Winnipeg will
be combining one team to be the Victory-Dryden Crusader Kings.
[January 19th, 2007] The Central Baptist Rink Rats are no longer
connected with the Central Baptist Seminary. Team name changed to the
Minneapolis Rink Rats. Also, the tournament is scheduled for March 16th and
17th. As soon as the teams and tournament schedule are finalized, they will be
posted to the site promptly.
[January 5th, 2007] The website has been re-redesigned ! I still need
help with adding more pictures and video to the site. If any of you have
anything you can send me, it would be greatly appreciated and added to the
site. Email the webmaster here (Brent
Moorman) All the videos on this site I now have
hosted on YouTube. If you have videos that are large, but under 100 MB and
under 10 minutes in length, they can be posted there. Either send the video to
me or you can host it on YouTube yourself and just let me know where it is so I
can link to it.
[March 19th, 2006] The 2006 tournament lived up to the hype, with all 9
teams proving to be competitive from top to bottom. Providence Bible College
from Manitoba joined us for the first time, and finished first in the round
robin, but fell short in the semi-finals to the eventual champions Central
Baptist from Minnesota. Faith made a great run, outscoring their opponents 11-3
in the round robin. Victory played very solid in their own end, backed up with
goaltender Costa Aglogallos. I-Falls failed to repeat as champion, missing out
on the semi-finals. I-Falls goalie Rob Tchop set aside his St.Louis Blues
equipment for a retro look. Lakehead played very solid with goalie Sam Hawkins
leading the way. They lost 2 close games in the round robin which could have
went either way. Selkirk had a lot of good playmaking forwards and was fun to
watch. Both Dryden teams were dissapointed, going a combined 0-7 in this years
tournament. Next year fellas !! Thanks to all the teams/players for making
this a fun event. Most of all, I'd like to thank tournament organizer Dan
Robinson for his tireless efforts in arranging for ice time, referees,
timekeepers, dressing rooms, etc. Another job well done Dan !!
Also, if anyone has pictures/team photos, please send them to the webmaster

[February 17th, 2006] 2006 tournament schedule and tournament rules

new jerseys and logo this year. Dryden will have 2 teams. Dryden Crusaders

has pictures/team photos from prior tournaments, please send them to the
webmaster Brent Moorman
[March 19th, 2005] The 2005 tournament was a huge success! Thanks to
Dan Robinson for all his hard work organizing it. I-Falls wins another
tournament, their 4th in 6 years. Let somebody else win it will ya ! ;-) The
Victory Kings made a nice run to the finals for the 2nd straight year, only to
lose again in a heart-breaker. They were the only team to go undefeated
throughout the round robin. Grace took a couple hard losses, but did manage a
win over Dryden. Dryden went from first last year, to worst this year. They
were missing 3 of their best players, and debuted a rookie goalie. Lakehead
appeared to be an improved team, and played quite well at times. Lakehead
goalie Sam Hawkins was very solid again this year. Faith won the C-side final
convincingly, and the Cavey brothers were a force once again for Faith. Central
looked like the team in this tourny to beat but ran into a hot I-Falls team in
the semi's. Central's defenseman Tharp was very impressive.
[February 25th, 2005] 2005 tournament schedule, tournament tree, and
tournament rules posted to the site under the tournament link.
[February 12th, 2005] It's official. The Intola Superiors will not be
sending a team this year for the first time in over a decade. Intola goalie and
current Drydenite Brent Moorman will now be playing defense for Dryden
Emmanuel.
[January 30th, 2005] Website re-designed.
[March 31st, 2004] Website updated with information received to date.
If any of you out there have 2004 pictures of your teams, or action shots,
please send them along to the webmaster
Brent Moorman
[March 27th, 2004] Coming into the finals, Dryden looked
like they were unstoppable. Victory came in with a good team, but got a few
good breaks by backing into the semi's. Dryden won in a close semi-final versus
I-Falls 4-3, and Victory surprised Faith with 5-2 semi-final win.
The finals was a fun game to watch. Victory never gave up, and kept trying to
penetrate the Dryden zone. Dryden jumped out to a 4-1 lead, only to see if
evaporate to 4-3 with less than a minute on the clock. Dryden held on to win
their first championship in 10 years.
[March 22nd, 2004] Added a Multimedia section with pictures and video
clips
[March 21st, 2004] 2004 tournament schedule revised. Some of the
Saturday games were too close together for some teams.
[March 4th, 2004] Tournament information for 2004 is now posted. The
tournament schedule and rules are there also. We have a new team from
Minneapolis this year, so we're looking forward to meeting these fellas.
If any of you have pictures of your team or action shots
from the 2003 tournament, please pass them along to the webmaster (Brent
Moorman)
[March 29th, 2003] International Falls continues their
dominance of this tournament, winning 3 of the last 4 years. Goaltender Rob
Tchop is becoming known as "Mr. Clutch" for his late game heroics. The Flying
Blades have come from obscurity to the top of this tournament. A decade ago,
this team was by far the worst in the tournament, but they have shown they are
ready to play every year, and are the team to beat coming in. Their talented
'big guns' are the game breakers and can make things happen in a hurry.
Dryden played an exciting run through to the finals. The 2003 finals were one of the most entertaining and close in several years. I know I was jumping out of my seat many times watching and cheering.
Many thanks to all the teams that participated, and we are looking forward to the 2004 to be a continued success. This tournament couldn't have happened without the hard work of organizer Dan Robinson. Thanks so much Dan for making this the weekend of the year !!
